I am very pleased and its worth the extra money.Jeff. When I accidentally dropped the machine, there were no problems.
I have, literally, a pile of broken/dysfunctional recorders by my desk. After having lost a number of dictations on cheap machines, I purchased the BM-575.
I essentially dictate for a living. This means way fewer missed words and corrections.
First, the transcriptionist was very happy. She can actually hear the words, especially around the areas where the recorder is clicked on and off.
That's usually the end of the cheap ones. Alaska
The Sony recorder was exactly what I needed to replace my older one. It arrived safely and was exactly as described. Very satisfied.
It is very easy to use with its slide switch and holds up well to extended use. Excellent product. The only thing that I feel could be improved is the tape speed selector switch. Very durable with a metal case. We use it for extensive dictation in the field. It is easy to change tape speeds and you can sometimes do it without being aware. As a fix, we have placed a small piece of transparent tape over the switch to hold it in place.
I have had one of these for about a year and love it. I just bought another one for my assistant. The sound quality and clarity is better than any other one I have ever owned
